Instead of using a spear shaped 3-edge needle, this device uses a spring for a quick lancing with a 3-edge needle. Conventional 3-edge needles accompany a great deal of pain. Because the pain can be lessened with quick lancing, This device was designed to lessened the pain by reducing the lancing time with a spring that instantly retracts the needle at the time of lancing. The needle is not replaceable.

삼릉침으로 자침을 하게 되면 통증이 대단히 심합니다. 통증은 빨리 자침할수록 적습니다. 그래서 관 속에 넣고 위에서 침자루를 탁 치면 순간적으로 자침이 된 다음 신속히 제자리로 올 수 있게 되어 통증이 적어지게 됩니다. 바로 이 통증을 적게 할 목적으로 스프링 삼릉침이 고안된 것입니다. 침의 교체는 가능하지 않습니다.
